Fort Niagara will recreate the atmosphere of an 18th century fort under siege. Rather than staging one large battle each day, there will be a series of engagements that will demonstrate to the public the nature of 18th century siege warfare in general, and specifically the chain of events that led to Fort Niagara's capitulation. The programs and schedule are in the planning stages, and this looks to be one of the big events for 2009. For more information visit the website.

Battle of the Restigouche **250th Commemoration**

Email: broadlands@globetrotter.net
URL: http://www.restigouche1760.ca/
The last naval battle between France and England for the possession of North American Lands! A first ever commemoration of this historical and sometimes forgotten event. We will have a week long heritage festival with the military events taking place July 9, 10 and 11. There will be three period-inspired villages representing the cultures that were here in 1760 and are still here today, French Acadian, Mi’gmaq and Scottish. The villages will be located in Campbellton, Pointe-à-la-Croix and Listuguj, in the Bay of Chaleur region. We need British and French militia to set up an encampment and give non-battle military drills and demonstrations of what life was like in 1760. Damian Siekonic of Privateer Media is handling all the boats and water activities, plus a display of our local Ghost Ship, The Chaleur Phantom. http://www.privateermedia.com/Restigouche/boats.html  The tentative schedule for the week includes fur trading, scavenger hunts, cemetery walks, old-fashioned workshops, a flotilla, the burying of a time capsule, horse drawn carriage rides, religious services, local cultural music performances, plays, Pirate Day and big stage events! We are also looking for Sutlers that will add an additional flair to the event! Please check our website for more information.

Founder's Day Weekend: French & Indian War Encampment and Colonial Trade Fair
Site: Lighthouse Point, Ogdensburg, NY
Phone: (877) 228-7810
URL:
http://www.fortlapresentation.net
This location on the banks of the St. Lawrence River is the original site where Fort de la Presentation stood. The Fort had a pivotal role in the French & Indian War, American Revolution and the War of 1812. Proceeds from the event will go into the building fund to assist in constructing a replica of Fort de la Presentation.
The Fort La Présentation Association will host New York State’s final 250th anniversary commemoration of the French and Indian War. As a Signature Event, Founder’s Day Weekend will draw re-enactors from across North America and from Europe to honor the participants in the last significant clash of French, British and Amerindian forces. The defeat of French forces at the Battle of the Thousand Islands and the siege of Fort Lévis in August 1760 opened the upper St. Lawrence River to Montreal. In September 1760, Montreal capitulated, and the French and Indian War came to an end. The event at historic Lighthouse Point in downtown Ogdensburg is on the banks of the St. Lawrence River adjacent to the original Fort site.
Founder's Day Weekend is open to the public. For a small entrance fee, visitors can view the battles, enjoy period entertainment and activities, and discover the French and Indian War.
Founder’s Day Weekend is a French and Indian War re-enactment and colonial trade fair and is open to re-enactors by invitation only. Preference will be given to individuals or groups that have attended Founder’s Day Weekend in previous years and accurately depict mid-18th century French and British military and civilian life, and Native society. Sutlers and historic trades are integral to the event, too.
