We have also opened a terrific "Osage Trail" which is dedicated to our Native American's, The Osage, who inhabited this land prior to the French and the Germans. The leaders of the Osage Nation from Pawhuska, OK have visited the area, complete with two authentic, hand-constructed long houses, a wicki-up plus numerous lodges, all complete with authentic Osage artifacts. We hope to have Osage representatives in attendance this year to explain their heritage, just as we do in the German and French areas.
Deutsch Country Days is the finest, most authentic Living History in Missouri. We have 35 restored Missouri log and period buildings, the "ERIC SLOANE COVERED BRIDGE," Missouri mules pressing sorghum, a working steam-powered saw mill, PLUS eighty traditional folkways and skills demonstrated by juried and authentically-dressed artisans from far and near. Four of the eighty artisans were selected by "Early American Life" magazine as four of the finest 100 primitive artisans in the USA.
