The Illinois Company of His Majesty's Independent Companies of Rogers' Rangers and are affiliated with Jaeger's Battalion, a national, historical reenactment group headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our Battalion traces it's own history back to 1956, and is the largest group in the country recreating the units of Rogers' Rangers. The primary purpose and focus of our group is the accurate recreation of a company of Rogers' Rangers of the French & Indian War era. We portray the years 1758-60 of the Grenadier company of the 2nd Battalion of Regt. De La Reine( the Queens Regt. of foot) that served in North America from 1755-1760. The Battalion and the company later served in Germany from 1761 till the end of the war in 1763. The Reconstituted unit was formed in 2003 but our membership has more than 30+ years of re-enacting the French and Indian war period. 77th Regt. of Foote, Montgomery's 1st Highland Regiment, Ettinger's Co. Cincinnati, OH. The 77th Highland Regt. was raised to fight against the French here in the colonies in 1757. Our group in association with the Forces of Montcalm and Wolfe is comprised of many different people portraying a highland military unit of soldiers and camp life during the French and Indian War in America. We currently have about 20 members. Requirements are the rules set down by the Forces of Montcalm and Wolfe governing attire, behavior, and engagement. Most of our members are from the Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky area. We take part in several local and national events each year. Our camps are primitive, camping in period canvas tents and cooking over an open fire. After a day in the field, we enjoy period music and activities.

Our unit is a recreation of les Compagnie franche de la Marine du Contrecoeur. Although the unit is based in the Pittsburgh, PA area, members hail from the tri-state area, with some coming from as far as Philadelphia, Michigan, and West Virginia. Our annual dues are $10.00 (subject to change) per adult (18 or older), payable at the annual meeting held about the first weekend in March. We participate in an average of eight events each year, including the annual re-enactments at Fort Pitt, Pittsburgh, PA.; Fort Fredrick, Big Pool, MD.; Fort Ticonderoga, Ticonderoga, NY; Fort Niagara, Youngstown, NY; Jumonville/Fort Necessity, Farmington, PA; Fort Ligonier, Ligonier, PA; Somerset Historical Center, Somerset, PA; and Penn's Colony, Pittsburgh, PA. Events are normally Saturday and Sunday. Our unit was a member of the "Associators of the French Indian War."

We are a re-enactiing unit that started in the late 1960s. Our home area is Western Penn. - Eastern Ohio. The unit we recreate would have been at Ft Duquesne between 1754 to 1558. The Marines would have been a part of Washington's defeat at Ft Neccessity, Braddock's defeat in 1756, and the attack on Ft Ligonier in 1758.
