Founded in 1972, Grizzly Mountain Long rifles is a 30 year old shooting club in Central Oregon dedicated to preserving the sport of shooting primitive blackpowder firearms and understanding the historical development and use of blackpowder firearms in the history of the United States.

We are a Charter Club of the NMLRA (National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association) and the NRA (National Rifle Association). As a club we host two major events annually, the Horse Ridge Rendezvous which is held in February near Horse Butte just East of Bend, OR. and our Spring Shoot which is held each May at our club grounds located just West of Prineville, OR.

The Horse Ridge Rendezvous draws about 425-450 registered competitors. The competitive events include shooting rifle, pistol or smoothbore (including divisions for women and children), a knife and hawk throw, a flint and steel firestart, an archery shoot, a fort shoot, a shotgun shoot and many other fun events. You will also find many Traders displaying their wares along Traders Row. GMLR raises funds throughout the year to provide prizes for all the children who compete at Horse Ridge and at least 30% of the shooters in each division. This event is open to the public.

Club meetings and shoots are held the second Sunday of each month at our blackpowder-only shooting range West of Prineville.
