UPDATE JANUARY 2010

Living history has long been a passion of this webmaster. In 2009 the Purefinder Fund was set up in memory of Colleen Gilbert, aka Hester Purefinder, in order to provide emergency support to reenactors in need. I completely support this Fund and ask that if you have any extra money, to please make a tax deductible donation today. You can read more about the Purefinder Fund at

Welcome to living-history.net!  Living-history.net is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of historical knowledge and understanding through the promotion of living history. If you are a reenactor, buckskinner, mountain man, or living history enthusiast this is the site for you.  Within this site you will find resources and information pertaining to reenacting, rendezvous, and of course, living history. These resources include a merchants page with many 18th century merchants, sutlers, and traders as well as listings of French & Indian War, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Fur Trade, NRLHF, and Civil War events and groups all across the country.

If you have been a frequent visitor to living-history.net you will notice many changes.  Living-history.net is expanding to include American Civil War events, groups, and merchants with the hope of assisting a larger group of reenactors.

Living history can run the gamut  from Renaissance to World War II. Also of interest to participants are Scottish festivals and Native American Powwows. There is no way we can list every single event in every single category, so we'll focus on 1750's Colonial America to the American Civil War.  So if you know of an event, we'll list it FREE!

In addition, there are many websites dedicated to living history, rendezvous, mountain men, the Fur Trade, buckskinning, and the American Civil War.  If there is a site that you know about please send living-history.net the link and we will make it available to everyone.

Living-history.net is not interested in flashy graphics or getting rich from Google ads.  What we do want to accomplish is providing the living history community with usable resources in a usable format that is easy to navigate.

I hope you like the new look and that you will find the site much easier to browse.  Please feel free to leave me feedback and let me know what you think of the new site.
